The BDA is running another free webinar with Microsoft to review the assistive technology that is available at no additional cost. Last year I discovered the 'read aloud' and 'speech to text' options that were freely available on my laptop through the software that I was already using. Since then I have shown a number of my students how to access these solutions. The different makes and types of laptop or notebooks etc vary in how the technology is accessed, but we have always been able to find it. And I could never claim to be in ICT expert! Just recently I was working with a student who could not spot errors in her writing by reading through, as soon as she used the 'read aloud' option to listen to her work she was able to spot her mistakes.
